The sights and sounds of a Battle of Nova Scotia game–between the hometown Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and rival Halifax Mooseheads–creates an exhilarating atmosphere, unmet anywhere else. The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM), in conjunction with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, will build on this experience to celebrate Hockey Day in Canada at Centre 200 on February 9th. As part of CBRM Recreation’s Taste of Winter program, the game will see specials on youth tickets and kid’s concessions, as well as a gameworn jersey raffle coinciding with Cape Breton University (CBU) Night at the Nest.
For the game, 500 youth tickets (under 21) will be priced at $5 on a first come, first served basis. In addition, a special popcorn and pop deal for youth will be offered at the game.
“Cape Breton Screaming Eagles games are one of the best entertainment options we have here in the CBRM,” says CBRM Recreation Program Coordinator Joe Costello. “We know that families and young people cannot always afford to attend every game, so we hope this price reduction will help people come to the rink and celebrate the game of hockey together as part of Taste of Winter.”
In addition, gameworn jerseys from Eagles’ captain Declan Smith and assistant captain Gabriel Proulx will be given away in online and in game promotions.
February 9th will also CBU Night at the Nest. Cape Breton University will be presenting live music, activities, on-ice presentations, and more for all in attendance. CBU and the CBRM encourage all spectators to wear orange as CBU’s “ORANGE ARMY” will be looking for Superfans during the game for giveaways. Tickets for the game can be purchased online at http://tickets.capebreton.ca or at the Centre 200 Box Office.
