Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC) is a not-for-profit organization developed to grow and support Cape Breton’s music industry. To ensure the success of CBMIC, the Board of Directors and staff are working on building CBMIC to be the key organization in Cape Breton where all artists can turn to for knowledge, advice and funding support as they begin and continue on their musical career paths. CBMIC realizes that the music industry in Cape Breton is a sustainable one. Through partnerships with government agencies, private sector, media, venues and music-related organizations locally, within Canada and beyond, CBMIC is striving to bridge the gap between local musicians and the music industry as a whole.
Over the past 11 years CBMIC has delivered over $1,000,000 worth of funding into the Cape Breton music industry through CBMIC projects and programs. Continuing to maintain successful programs and projects, as well as developing new ideas and initiatives, is paramount for CBMIC.
“With the right focus and support, Cape Breton’s music industry has the potential to be among the strongest in the country,” says Duane Nardocchio, CBMIC Operations Manager. “An important part of establishing that focus is having a team of passionate and forward-thinking individuals as the foundation for the organization. CBMIC requires a strong active board, willing to collaboratively bring CBMIC to the next level.”
CBMIC will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, July 16th, 7-9pm at New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation, 37 Nepean Street in Sydney. The Meeting will be held in the second floor Boardroom. CBMIC members are invited and encouraged to attend. This meeting will include the annual election for the board of directors.
CBMIC members are encouraged to nominate anyone who they believe would be a good candidate for the CBMIC board of directors. Anyone who is interested in putting their name forward for nomination should contact CBMIC Operations Manager, Duane Nardocchio or simply fill out the Nomination Submission Form.
Nominations are open now and will close on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at 5:00 PM. CBMIC board of director positions are two (2) year terms. For more information please visit cbmic.ca.
