November marks the end of the 2010 season for the CB Island Hoppers Volkssport Club and the group is inviting all interested parties to join them for their final two guided walks and their Annual General Meeting.
On Sunday, November 7th the Broughton Walk Event will see Shirley Pettigrew lead walkers through nearly ten kilometers of quiet country roads and wooded trails to the site of the former Broughton Arms Hotel and the ghost town of Broughton to discover more about the fascinating but short history of this almost forgotten community and the remediation program taking place nearby at the former Broughton Coal Mine. Registration for the walk begins at 1:30pm with the trek beginning at 2:00pm at 2108 Broughton and Morrison Road.
The group’s last walk of the season will take place on Sunday, November 21st at the Baille Ard Nature Trail in Sydney. Registration takes place at the St Joseph’s RC Church parking lot, 40 Cabot Street, at 1:30pm with the walk beginning at 2:00pm. The total distance will be 10k with an optional 5k event. President of Cape Breton Island Hoppers Volkssport Club Joe MacKinnon Invites all members to attend the group’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 20 from 3 – 5pm at the MacConnell Library, 50 Falmouth Street in Sydney. Members are encouraged to attend these important meetings to ensure they have a say in club matters.
