To support an Antigonish family in need, musicians with ties to Cape Breton – Carmel Mikol, Andrew White and Rosie MacKenzie will join forces with mainlanders The Stanfields, Ian McKinnon, Kim Wempe and David Bradshaw to perform a benefit concert at Piper’s Pub in Antigonish on Sunday, August 29 from 6 p.m. – 12 midnight.
The evening will be hosted by musician (Rawlins Cross) and President of GroundSwell Music Ian McKinnon.
“The MacKenzie family have had two hard years”, says singer-songwriter Kim Wempe. “In June, their family home burnt to the ground and they lost everything. The communities of Sherbrooke and Antigonish have been coming together for them in these last few months and we wanted to find a way to do the same. This is our way of helping out. With this fundraiser, we hope to raise a good amount of money to help the family in the months ahead.”
Tickets for the benefit show are $15 (including tax) and are on sale now at the venue. All proceeds will go directly to the MacKenzie family.
