For the second year running, the Cape Breton University Art Gallery is opening up its doors and clearing off its walls to host a community exhibition called ProletariART. The exhibition is an opportunity for the art-makers, crafters and all-around-creative types in the community to publicly display what they’ve been working on over the last year. ProletariART is composed of works of art submitted by the general public including everyone from seasoned artists to beginners.
Members of the community are welcome to submit up to two works of art to the exhibit. A public exhibition is being held from January 25 until February 22.
“There are so many people in Cape Breton who work on visual arts projects, often for their own enjoyment, who are looking for a chance to share their creativity and we wanted to create an annual event that would celebrate this kind of activity,” says Laura Schneider, Director/Curator of the CBU Art Gallery.
To submit a work of art, pick up a submission form at the Cape Breton University Art Gallery or at cbu.ca/art-gallery, read the guidelines carefully and have your submission and the form to the gallery by Friday, January 11 at 4 pm.
