Broadway at the Boardmore, an intermediate to advanced applied training camp for singers, actors and dancers, is being held from August 12-23 at the Boardmore Playhouse. The youth program (ages 12-16) is set for August 12-16, and the adult program is scheduled for August 19-23.
Participants will get to take part in private voice lessons, master classes, performance seminars, and work in the areas of text (acting methods) and movement. At the end of each week, performers will put their newly acquired skills to the test and perform for their families and friends in a showcase concert.
“This program will be an extraordinary opportunity for all who participate,” says Todd Hiscock, Director, Boardmore Playhouse. “The level of instruction will be of the highest quality. Participants will be thrilled at the outcomes,”
By taking part in Broadway at the Boardmore, attendees will learn vocal technique, acting methods, interpretation, and physical coordination through yoga, movement, body-work and dance. In addition, skills in vocal hygiene and health and audition preparation will be taught, as well as enhancing performance power.
Instructors include Artistic Director Robyn Vaughn Cathcart, a member of the Voice Faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music along with other guest artists and instructors.
To be accepted into Broadway at the Boardmore, each interested performer must book an audition. Auditions are being held on Saturday, June 1 and Saturday June 8 from 1-5 p.m. in the Boardmore Playhouse at Cape Breton University
