Behind the local music: Songwriter Cody Degaust puts final touches on debut album

Songwriter Cody Degaust spent a day at Soundpark studio recently to finish up the final three songs for his debut release titled Liars & Thieves.

Just nineteen, Cody has begun working with industry veteran Keith Dawson who is filling the role of producer, manager and drummer for this project. “It has been a huge benefit working with Keith.” says Degaust. “It has opened many new doors for me to progress with my career. He is also teaching me a lot about the industry.”

Lead guitarist Bernie Eagles, bassist Brett Waye and drummer Dawson will be featured on much of the album with engineer Jamie Foulds also making a guest appearance. Cody says the album will have a pop rock feel with “an acoustic instrumental, a few acoustic songs and some catchy up tempo rock songs as well.”

Cody’s plans for 2011 include the release of Liars & Thieves by early March featuring the release of the single “Can’t Stop the World”. A video shoot is scheduled at Strathspey Place with Doug MacAulay of Free Thought Theater on March 25th. Cody also plans to hit the road throughout the Maritimes in 2011 in support of the album.
