The Gulf Aquarium and Marine Station Cooperative, was incorporated in 2007 for the purpose of establishing a Marine Centre on the western shore of Cape Breton Island.
The Gulf Marine Centre Supports the three core mission of GAMS: research on present and future fisheries, resources, and ecosystems of the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence; community building by providing opportunity for communication and collaboration between fishermen, regulators, industry, and community leaders; and education through marine environmental education opportunities for all levels and ages.
GAMS is a year round research and development office in Cheticamp, and operates a seasonal research field station and discovery centre in Petit Etang, at the entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Other activities along with the music include touch tanks and face-painting for the kids, raffles, and an auction for the event poster signed by the musicians.
The show finishes with an old-fashioned kitchen party with local step-dancers and musicians onstage and the audience dancing in their seats. And there will also be a bar open for those 19 years and older.
Proceeds from the event to go the Gulf Aquarium and Marine Station Cooperative (GAMS) for the opening of a Marine Centre in Cheticamp.
