The buzz is growing about the upcoming fundraiser being held at in.sight Gallery in Sydney Mines. The inception of the artist-run gallery has helped to remedy the lack of organized support for the local arts community. The initial idea for the centre came from artist Kathleen Bunin, who felt “that local artists could benefit greatly from interacting on both a personal and professional level.” Bunin contacted other artists and as a collective group worked to established the gallery. Revenue from the annual fundraiser constitutes a major portion of in.sight’s operating budget, and organizers of the event are hopeful that the 2nd annual Small Works fundraiser will be as successful as last year.
Local artists have generously donated between 1 and 3 works, which will be part of the raffle on May 10th, 2002 at 7:30pm. Tickets will be randomly drawn and the owner of the ticket will have one minute to choose a work of art from the donated pieces on display. There will be refreshments served and entertainment will be provided by local harpist Jennifer Tingley. Tickets for Small Works are only $45.00 each, and donated works can be viewed at the gallery until May 10th. It’s going to be a great evening-so get your tickets now!
Tickets can be purchased at in.sight Gallery , Arts Cape Breton Office, or Silicon Island between the hours of 9-5pm, except between 12-1pm. You can call Rob @564-4877.
Gallery hours for viewing Small Works are between Tuesday-Saturday from 1-5pm. For more information regarding the upcoming fundraiser call 736-0434.
