Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is a not for profit organization whose mandate is to promote excellence in craft and design. Located in downtown Sydney, the Centre houses well equipped studios including pottery, metal, glass, and weaving as well as two multipurpose areas used for painting and textiles. Programs are available for both adults and youth and are offered year round.
Three times a year, Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design offers courses in both traditional and contemporary craft in 8-week sessions or weekend workshops.
Fall, winter, and spring, the Centre presents a new line-up designed to appeal to the professional and emerging craftsperson alike.
This eclectic lineup provides scope for collective creativity, individual expression, technical mastery, and innovation.
For greater accessibility, the Centre provides outreach programming in communities across Cape Breton Island.
Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design runs its course and workshop program on a cost recovery basis. Fees cover a range of costs including instructor fees, equipment and studio maintenance, tools and supplies. Course and workshop fees listed do not include HST. Fees must be paid prior to commencement of classes.
Methods of payment include Visa, MasterCard, debit, cheque, cash, and money order. Gift Certificates are available. A senior’s discount is available upon request for those 60 years and older.
All studios are wheelchair accessible. Some of the workshops and classes offered can be physically demanding. If you have any medical problems and are unsure as to whether you should take a program, please call the Centre to discuss these concerns prior to registering.
