Expedia Canada has released the “Top 18 Cities to Visit in 2018” as chosen by Canadians from across the country, and Cape Breton Island topped the list.
The article mentions the 2018 Cape Breton Island Bicycle Tour, July 16-23, noting that registration is already open and that the route will take you to all the best corners of the area; The Bite House, a 12-seat restaurant located in a century-old farmhouse outside of Baddeck where the food is prepared with the best ingredients the area has to offer – either sourced from small independent farmers, foraged, or grown in their gardens; and North River Kayak Tours, which offers a variety of sea kayaking tours and packages to suit everyone’s needs from beginner to advanced.
“This is a wonderful accolade for Cape Breton Island and we have to thank Expedia Canada and the Canadians who recommended us,” says Mary Tulle, CEO of Destination Cape Breton. “This speaks to the prominence of Cape Breton Island as a destination across Canada and a growing recognition beyond.”
To develop the list, Expedia Canada surveyed one thousand Canadians to ask which city they would recommend that travellers visit in 2018. While not all of the responses were cities and even included provinces, Expedia Canada presented the destinations as chosen by the participating Canadians.
“To top a list that includes such established destinations from Tokyo to Toronto is a testament to the strength of the tourism experience delivered by our partners within the Island’s tourism industry,” says Tulle. “We are coming off a strong tourism season and, with recognition such as this, we hope to continue that trend into 2018.”
